Wong Kar-wai is a Hong Kong film director and screenwriter. Born in Shanghai, he moved to Hong Kong with his family in 1963. After graduation, Wong took a training course with the TVB television network and soon began his career as a screenwriter in the 1980s. He then transitioned to directing with his debut As Tears Go By (1988). The movie, with its bold, vivid colors and beautiful cinematography, received critical acclaim. Wong went on to make Days of Being Wild (1990) which won numerous awards at important festivals, including Best Film and Best Director at the 10th Hong Kong Film Awards, Best Director at the 28th Golden Horse Awards and Best Director at the 36th Asia Pacific Film Festival. Wongs following films Ashes of Time (1994) and Chungking Express (1994) confirmed his reputation as a director gifted at producing art films focused on mood and atmosphere. In 1997, Wong Kar-wai became the first Chinese to win Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival thanks to Happy Together (1997). His international success continued with In the Mood for Love (2000) and 2046 (2004). In 2013, Wongs latest feature The Grand Master received favorable critics both at home and abroad.

(Suzhou, October 24, 2007). A Li Hsing retrospective was held during the 16th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival. On this occasion, the renowned Taiwanese film director was awarded the title of "Honorary Archivist" by the former head of China Film Archive Fu HongXing.

Born in Shanghai, Li later moved to Taiwan and became one of the most celebrated Taiwanese film directors. He directed more than 50 films between 1958 and 1986. Some of his early successes include Emperor Wu (1961), Our Neighbors (1963), and Oyster Girl (1964). In 1964, Li directed Beautiful Duckling which received three Golden Horse Awards including wins for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Cinematography. In the 1970s Li continued to garner critical acclaim with masterpieces such as Execution in Autumn (1971), He Never Gives Up (1978) and The Story of a Small Town (1979).As a prolific director, Lis filmography covers a wide variety and spans several decades. In 1995, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 32nd Golden Horse Awards.
