L’Arlésienne is an adaptation of Alphonse Daudet’s short story (a text André Antoine knew well, having adapted it for the stage). It is the second adaptation of the famous text, following Albert Capellani’s version for the SCAGL in 1908. Frédéri, madly in love with the Arlésienne, faces his mother’s objections and agrees to marry Vivette. His unexpected encounter with Mitifio, the Arlésienne’s lover, rekindles his love.

4K restoration completed in 2020 at L’Image Retrouvée by the Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé Foundation and the Cinémathèque Française, with support from the CNC. Restoration based on two complementary diacetate prints from 1925 and 1926 from the Cinémathèque’s collections.
