The Jérôme Seydoux-Pathé Foundation’s collections are brimming with treasures from the silent film era, produced by Pathé, a company founded alongside the birth of cinema in 1896. They feature a profusion of comical and magical scenes that are as extravagant as they are delirious. This is evidenced by the surrealist flights of fancy of Boireau, the incorrigible comedians Little Moritz and Rosalie, the mischief of Max Linder, the poetry of Gaston Velle, the fabulous special effects of George Méliès, and the earthy ingenuity of Émile Cohl.

Le Petit Jules Verne, Gaston Velle, 1907
