Heroines - when women wield power

Human, yet larger than life, whether real or fictional, alone or organised, heroines are endowed with unshakeable will and mighty power, which they wield to change the world. Invented or rooted in History, they are depicted from the very beginning of silent cinema and nurture our collective imagination. They are models of heroines of a new genre, contemporary with the industrial, social, and cultural revolutions emerging at the beginning of the 20th century, in which they actively take part.
