Synopsis

Elementary school teacher Li Zhongming found himself in a difficult situation when he lost his job and was left with no other option but to become a tricycle driver to make ends meet. Kind and friendly, Li quickly caught the eye of his boss' daughter. Zhao Shuqiu, Li's lover, moved into his home. When Li's tricycle was taken away by his boss’s daughter due to her jealousy of the couple, Li’s neighbors rallied around him and helped him buy another one. Zhao set up her own newsstand and together the two of them started an outdoor school. Despite being wrongly arrested, Li was eventually released and welcomed with enthusiasm by his kind-hearted neighbors. Eventually, Li and Zhao married and the movie has an overall optimistic and courageous tone. Despite this, the film glosses over the darkness of society, leaving it without a critical point of view.
