Synopsis

One day, while sightseeing, Seventh Fairy parted the clouds and saw the marriages of couples and their work on the farm, making her envious. She then saw Dong Yong, who had sold himself into slavery for money to give his father a dignified funeral, and she fell in love with him. The eldest sister gave Seventh Fairy an Urgency Fragrance and told her to burn it to call for help if she was ever in trouble. After descending to the human world, Seventh Fairy and Dong Yong got married. In order to set him free, she went to the landowner Fu’s house to work. Fu asked Seventh Fairy to weave ten pieces of brocade in one night or he would prolong Dong Yong’s slave period. Seventh Fairy lit the Urgency Fragrance and the sisters came to help. Soon after, Dong Yong found out that his wife was pregnant. However, a fierce wind blew and a message from the Jade Emperor came: Seventh Fairy must return to the heavens or Dong Yong would be killed. Seventh Fairy, to prevent her husband from harm, told him her story and left a promise before leaving for the heavens. This story reflects the noble character of the working people, their hatred and condemnation of the feudal autocratic rulers.
