Synopsis

In 1944, amidst a devastating bombing raid, a young physician by the name of Dong Lin found himself stranded in the mountains. It was there that he met Yan Hong, a young girl battling a heart condition. In a place where survival was uncertain, the two leaned on each other and fell deeply in love. As news of Japan's surrender reached them, Dong Lin knew he had to leave to find his wife and child. Yan Hong was left alone and heartbroken, but Dong Lin promised to return in six months to marry her. However, Dong Lin was sent to work in Shanghai and fell gravely ill, unable to seek out Yan Hong. Eventually, he made his way back to Guilin, only to find that Yan Hong had already left. Disappointed and ailing, Dong Lin was comforted by his loving wife. Meanwhile, Yan Hong made her way to Shanghai to look for Dong Lin, but their paths never crossed. In the end, Yan Hong, who was dying of longing, asked for Dr. Dong Lin. She finally saw her beloved again before passing away.
