Synopsis

In a dynasty plagued by foreign invasion and unrest, chaos forced people to flee their homes. Rui Lan, the daughter of Minister Wang, was separated from her mother during their escape. On the road, she encountered Jiang Shilong, a scholar, and the two relied on each other for survival, eventually becoming husband and wife. After the war ended, Jiang Shilong fell ill with a cold and was confined to a guesthouse. Rui Lan dutifully cared for him and remained by his side. When Minister Wang returned to the capital from the border, he and his daughter were finally reunited. Rui Lan told her father about her marriage with Shilong during their hardships, but the Minister disapproved of the union due to Shilong's impoverished status. Later, Jiang Shilong excelled in the imperial examinations and became the top scholar. The beloved couple eventually got reunited.
