The China Film Festival has kicked off in Spain with screenings taking place in the Spanish capital Madrid and the city of Valencia. The program will feature four early Chinese classics including “Street Angel”, “Crows and Sparrows”, “Five Golden Flowers” and “Havoc in Heaven” as well as four recent productions, namely, “Lighting up the Stars”, “I Am What I Am”, “In Pursuit of Light” and “Moon Man”.
“The films selected span the past and the present of Chinese cinema,” says Mr. Yang Changqing, head of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Madrid. This can be seen in the festival’s poster where Monkey King, a classic Chinese cultural icon, is gazing at the reflection of an astronaut.
The movie “Moon Man” opened the festival in Madrid while “I Am What I Am” was featured as the opening film in Valencia. Vicente Andreu, Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Valencia and Ricós, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication of the University of Valencia were among the guests present at the events.
