On the afternoon of 26th October local time, the 2023 China Film Show kicked off in Osaka. The opening film “Creation of the GodsⅠ: Kingdom of Storms” was enjoyed by 700 audience members and guests including the film’s director Wuershan and lead actor Fei Xiang. The event was also attended by Yu Zhou, producer of “Chang An” as well as Xu Zheng who produced and acted in “B for Busy” . Prior to the screening, Chinese and Japanese youth put on a dance performance. Moreover, Wuershan and Fei Xiang exchanged with the audience. According to the director, the opening film, inspired by traditional Chinese myths, represented a bold attempt at the mythological epic genre. As the movie’s production team boasted members from more than twenty countries, he also expressed the hope for more international cooperation in the future.
Interestingly, many enthusiastic fans came to the show dressed up as characters from “Chang An”, spicing up the atmosphere.
From October 26th to November 1st the week-long celebration will feature 16 domestically released films in 2023, such as “Full River Red”, “Chang An”, “One and Only”, “Lost in the Stars” and “Octagonal” . Together, they encompass a wide range of genres and themes including family, romance, inspirational story, fantasy, history and documentary etc.
Xue Jian, Consul General of China in Osaka, Lu Liang, Deputy Director of the China Film Administration and Hiroshi Issaka, Director of the International Exchange Division of the Osaka Prefectural Government's Cultural Bureau, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. The “2023 China Film Show Osaka” is hosted by the Consulate General of China in Osaka and the China Film Administration. It is organized by the Japan-China Film Festival Executive Committee, the China Film Archive, and the Tourism Representative Office of China in Osaka.
