On August 21 local time, the China Film Festival kicked off in Lagos, Nigeria. It is hosted by the China Film Administration and the Consulate General of China in Lagos, organized by the China Film Archive and the Film Administration of Guangdong Province, and co-organized by the South China Newspaper Media Group and the China Cultural Center in Nigeria. The four-day festival will feature a dozen of movies, including “The Captain”, “Ride On”, “I Am What I Am” and “Beijing 2022”.
Coincidentally, the day marked the traditional Qixi Festival, China’s equivalent of Valentine’s Day. As clips from the romantic movie “White Snake” was shown at the opening ceremony, Zhu Hongxing, the young actress playing the role of Xiaoqing in the film, gave a live performance of sword dancing, to the admiration of the audience.
Following the screening of the opening film “Cloudy Mountain”, a question-and-answer session was held between Huang Zhizhong , the leading actor and the audience who showed great enthusiasm.
