China-Kenya film festival launched in Nairobi to mark 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties

At 6pm local time, on August 14, 2023, the China-Kenya Film Festival opened in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The eleven-day festival will feature the screening of eleven Chinese movies, including“White Snake”and “I Am What I Am” as well as several Kenyan productions such as “Christmas Love”and “Supastaz”.

Prior to the opening ceremony, a memorandum of understanding on film exchange and technical cooperation was signed between the China Film Administration and the Kenyan Ministry of Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports. The event was organized by the China Film Administration, the Kenyan Ministry of Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports, the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, the China Film Archive, the Film Administration of Guangdong Province as well as the Kenya Film Commission, and co-organized by StarTimes Kenya.
