CFA Delegate Delivers a Keynote Speech at the Symposium of the 78th Annual Conference of FIAF

The International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) is holding its 78th Annual Conference in Budapest, Hungary from April 24th to 29th. This year’s conference saw a symposium themed under The Visible Archives: Archiving, Preserving, Digitizing and Sharing Non-Fiction Films. Li Zhen, deputy director and associate researcher of the Film History Research Department of the China Film Archive, attended the symposium via video link and delivered a keynote speech on Science Education Film and Poverty Alleviation in China, introducing the production, collection and development of Chinese science and education films and the crucial role of such films in lifting China’s rural residents out of poverty.

The conference this year focuses on the value of non-fiction films and how to preserve them. Widely collected by film archives across the world, this category of archives include news documentaries, experimental films, home videos and amateur films among others. The annual conference is hosted by the Film Archive of the Hungarian National Film Association.
